In the summer of 2015 I relocated to the north of Spain for a teaching job in the little coastal town of Castro Urdiales. Life in Castro was very, very sleepy, but luckily I had the big smoke of Bilbao on my doorstep just forty minutes away by bus. So of course I put a weekend aside to go exploring.
I duly discovered a city bursting with inventive architecture and art, from its mushrooming street graffiti scene to the towering ambition of a certain world class museum.
