Short stories & travel reports from a life spent living, working and exploring the globe.
In May 2019 I set off on my very first cross-country trip around England, which is amazing considering I was forty years old at the time. Catching up with a host of family and friends I hadn’t seen in years, I had a grand old time with a mix of both familiar and fresh locations. The centrepiece of that month-long adventure was a first time stay in Liverpool with my old mate Steppers. The basic idea was to celebrate twenty-five years of friendship, discover one of England’s most dynamic cities and tick off a string of major bucket list items by diving hard into the wondrous world of all things Beatles.
Maybe it was The Fab Four, perhaps it was pretty Albert Dock or the stunning Statues in the Sand at Crosby Beach, but Liverpool is easily my favourite English city thus far. In fact, it’s the only time I’ve ever felt like there was a place in England that… theoretically speaking… I could lay down roots. To meet the locals, taste the food, check out the architecture and find out more about The Beatles than you could ever possibly need to know, please do wade through my travel reports on:
