Although I was born in London in the balmy summer of 1978, my family moved out to the country while I was still a tot and that was that, we never looked back. I lived all over the UK as a kid and teen, but only really made it back to the big smoke for sporadic visits to catch up with friends and see my beloved Queens Park Rangers.
Later on, after I left the UK to kick off my foreign adventures, I always made sure that my annual trips back home included a stop in London. In the last few years I’ve found myself reconnecting with the city that, in all honesty, I never had the chance to truly connect with in the first place. While I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to settle here, I’ve come to realize that this is the one place on earth that feels like home, whatever that even means.
And so it’s long overdue that I finally get to give London the Leighton Literature treatment with a fulsome expansion. So here’s to my hometown, to the brilliant people I’ve shared it with, the memories I’ve made here and hopefully to many more future visits and even more travel reports!
