Washington, D.C.

Back in the mid noughties my good friend Chris moved to Washington, D.C. right around the time S and I had started scheming about a grand USA trip for May  2007. “You should definitely come and stay” Chris told me, “I’m just down the road from The White House”.  It sounded way too good to turn down, so I factored in three nights in America’s capital, which of course ended up being WAY too short.

No harm done though, as I actually ended up going back to D.C. two years later for a guys holiday to mop up some of the stuff I’d neglected the first time around. I have very fond memories of my stays there; a clean, green, profoundly historical city where the country’s colorful albeit checkered past is marked by sublime buildings, wondrous monuments and some of the world’s finest (not to mention free!) museums.
